Yeast Research at North Central College

The Yeast People:

Emily is a sophomore who is studying how yeast regulate their growth rate.

Ashley is a junior majoring in biochemistry who is seeking synthetically lethal genes in the yeast genome.

 Dorothy is a sophomore seeking new phenotypes of the yak1 mutant.

 Amanda is also a sophomore who is shown here dissecting yeast tetrads.

  Deborah is a senior biochemistry major who is investivating how yeast accumulate storage carbohydrates.

Jason is a senior biochemistry major who is investigating how Msi1p can cooperate with a human tumor suppressor gene.

Former Members of the Yeast Lab:

Scott is in the process of applying to Dental School.  

Bethany was the Outstanding Biology Graduate in 2007 and is now in medical school at Loyola University.

Alis graduated with a biology major in 2006 and is now looking to enroll in medical school.

Brianne graduated in 2006 with a biochemistry degree major and is now working for a local company that manufactures food additives.

Devin graduated in 2006 and is now a nuclear medical technician in Indiana.

Zach graduated with a degree in Biochemistry in 2005 and is now in graduate school in Cancer Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

  Lindsay graduated with a majors in both Biochemistry and Math in Spring 2004 and is now working in Costa Rica.

Sara graduated from NCC in the Spring of 2003 is now employed at Baxter Healthcare in their Renal Products Division.  

Toni graduated as the Outstanding Biology Major in 2003 and now works as a microbiologist at DA Stuart.

   Sabrina graduated from North Central in the Spring of 2001 and is now working in a lab at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  

  Effie graduated with a degree in History in 2001 and is went to medical school at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Erin also graduated in 2001 and is now working full-time in a toxicology test laboratory in Chicago.

  Florence, a high school student from Naperville North, plating yeasts.  Florence went on to enroll at Harvard (also known as the NCC of the East).

  Eric graduated from NCC and took a job in the retrovirology section at Abbott Labs.

Nate graduated from NCC in 2000 and earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina.
